You'll discover many local shops and restaurants in this quaint neighborhood. The name, HOTEI-AN, comes from Hotei-san, who is one of the Seven Deities of Good Luck. Sharing the same space as the living room is the kitchen. Although designed with the traditional machiya in mind, Rikyu-an successfully blends the traditional with the modern by utilizing a jet-black counter top and retro sink fixtures. We invite guests to use this fully functional kitchen to prepare light meals during your stay.

The spacious bathroom, with high-sloping ceilings, offers a serene space to relax. Constructed using the Japanese “Hinoki” wood, a sandy-coloured wood often used when building Noh theatres, palaces, and temples, allows for you to relax in luxury. Soak in a bath while looking out into the lush, green garden after a long day of traveling & sightseeing– you will be able to revive yourself for another day of exploring Kyoto!
