Evolved into a Japanese style auberge after 120 years Please enjoy traditional cuisine including "Tai-meshi (white rice cooked with sea bream)" associated with Matusudaira Fumai, who was a domain lord of Matsue Han (feudal clan) as well as "Japanese style auberge", which is a fusion of traditional cuisine and modern one.
You can enjoy conversation with Itamae (Japanese chef). Itamaes listen to the "voice" of the local ingredients and cook only the supreme tastes. They will lead you to the "Happiest moment with excellent flavors" with the cuisines of this era, while carrying on the tradition.
The modern Japanese style restarurant "Minami" is also located on the first floor of the ryokan. It's a restaurant where you can casually enjoy various local food including lord Fumai's favorite traitional Tai-meshi, viewing the beautiful Japanese garden utilizing the landscape of Lake Shinji, which is sweeping away from the far end of the lobby.

Lodge in a retro style room I was able to have a very enjoyable time during the stay The room and bathroom was spacious, and the meals were tasty. The proprietor of the Japanese style restaurant was also kind hearted. And after returning home feeling good, I realised I had forgotten my glasses. When I hastily called the lodging, they understood that it was a lost article If it was something else I was not usually make the claim, but as it was something I use everyday it was very unfortunate that they did not contact me about it by phone. If you had contacted me I could have gone and picked it up before the departure of the airport bus from Matsue As the accommodations are not cheap, I expect to be paying for the hospitality also. When I returned home, I was left with a feeling of disappointment instead of happiness. It was safely mailed out the following day, and I also received a letter of apology with it. Their response was sincere after I had pointed it out, which was the only relief. + More

It was my first visit and as the experience was as expected. Their careful attentiveness and service was great. The food and hot spring were all satisfactory. The dinner and the breakfast with its specialty sea bream rice were also delicious. I definitely would like to visit again. + More

The view from the room was wonderful, so I was able to thoroughly enjoy some luxurious time looking at the Japanese garden and lake Shinji while taking my bath. The staff that I met at the hotel were providing me with the best possible service, so the Matsue sighseeing plan turned out to be even more satisfying. And after the check out I was able to arrange my car to be looked after very quickly, so I could have a leisurely walk. Thank you. [blank] + More

I was able to enjoy the best part of travelling. The view through the window that overlooks Lake Shinji, the beautiful garden, meals, hot springs, interior furnishing, and conversation with the staff were all impressive. I think this is a hotel that continue to carefully refine the already sophisticated culture and history of Matsue. In the morning, even a boat going to catch shijimi clams sounded tasteful. I was lucky to stay there on the day they go catch the clams. There was an English-speaking staff to support people from overseas, so I would recommend the hotel to my overseas friends as well. + More

It was a satisfactory stay with the service, the meals and all of of the quality of the castle town Matsue. We could sincerely relax with the room ceiling high and too spacious for two persons. More than any thing, I was thrilled to be able to overlook from entire surface of glass-walled room a panoramic view of Lake Shinji and the well-kept beautiful garden too. The view of Lake Shinji seen from the perspective of the bath room was great too.I I had a luxurious bath time seeing gently reflected lights of Ohashi on the surface of the water in the evening, and birds coming and going on the surface of the water in the morning. It was a very tasty meal with depth in the elegant taste and the delicate attention of the person who cooked this meal. I enjoyed talking with the staff took care of me in various ways. I would love to eat at the counter next time. The memory of the beautiful garden of 30 years ago almost fading from my mind, this time again, I was glad to be able to see its splendor. Both Lake Shinji seen from the garden in the evening and the view of the Karesannsui seen while having breakfast were splendid. It was a good service of the each staff with a warm welcome and hospitality felt without ready-made but with a good feeling. It was too bad that I did not have enough time this time. I think I would love to come again. Thank you very much. + More

It is easy to access from JR Matsue station as well as Matsue castle and they have a fantastic Japanese garden with the appearance Shinji lake in the back of it. It was a relaxing old ryokan with great hospitality. I stayed at one of the ryokans of the Minami group in Tamatsukuri hot spring the other day, and they carried my luggage here straight from that ryokan so I could enjoy the Adachi museum without carrying a bothersome suitcase. At the point of reservation the fact that I talked to the staff on the phone was already acknowledged, and I was impressed. Nowadays there are many ryokans that provide food that is elaborated too much, but I enjoyed the food which I could taste the natural ingredients in a relaxed mood. Since I am old, I prefer to have less amount of food and I told that to the ryokan; they considered it and served me less. Since there are only a few number of rooms, the public bath was rather small however it was clean and felt great; I enjoyed the hot spring. + More

Thank you very much for the other day. It was the most impressive inn during this 5 day trip to the Chugoku region. I was satisfied with everything such as the room, the meals, the service and the bath. I would like to visit there in every season if I lived nearby. But the duvet was too think at all the hotels I stayed so I had to leave the air-conditioning all through the night which is against Energy Savings. I suggest that you should change the thickness of the duvets depending on the season and the temperature. + More

The food was elaborated well with ingredients and in taste, and I enjoyed it very much. Especially Taimeshi at breakfast (rice with minced sea bream) was interesting to eat pouring dash (Japanese soup stock) on it and making it like Taichazuke. The guest room happened to be faced to the North and dark which was not suitable for reading. The bath was not spacious so when there were many guests I found it hard to relax. The service is polite and the garden seen from the dining area was beautiful. I would like to visit the hotel again for that food. + More

It was my 2nd visit. Last time I stayed on the 4th floor. This time I stayed on the 3rd floor. There was elegance in the calm atmosphere, and the location in the city was the best suited for sightseeing as well. This time I had dinner at the counter and not at the table. I felt the distinctive quality of the hotel overall from the elegance of the chef, needless to say about the food. It was truly better than the lat time. It was close to touristic places and was good to go for a walk as well; since I took a book with me I spent time reading. In this connection I might add that unfortunately I am in the middle of tooth treatment and I was grateful that they prepared a mouthwash and I was able to calm the tooth pain. I talked to my wife that we should make this hotel a place to visit regularly. I would like to visit the store in Ginza or Nihonbashi on a business trip to Tokyo. It is a hotel worth staying once. + More

I stayed in an annex that faced a beautiful Japanese garden. The room is spacious and comfortable with the view of the garden and Lake Shinji outside of the window. People at the inn were filled with detailed hospitality, and we had a great time. The public bath in the main building is on the small side. They do not have any open-air bath either. The bath provided minimal amenities. I wish they had at least provided brushes. It was a small bath and I was afraid it might get crowded, but, probably because there aren't many rooms and because rooms have open-air baths, I was able to enjoy the hot spring to the fullest without seeing anyone else as if it was private. Everything in the meal was very delicious as well. it came in a large quantity, and I became very full. If I come to Matsue again, I would love to stay here. + More
